Hi

I'm after a full susser for around £1000 (cycle 2 work scheme coming in to play), and have been looking at the Spesh FSR XC Comp and the Trek Fuel EX 5.5.

What do you guys reckon ? Or is there something better for the money ?

I'll probably upgrade over time, but want it to at least have a decent frame.

Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Cheers :D

  • I too am considering these bikes so if anyone has anything that could help me decide I'd be very grateful.
My lbs is telling me that the Trek frames are better than the M4 Specialized and also that the Trek's Fox Float RP2 is better than the X-Fusion 02RLA - anyone know if the differences are significant enough to sway me?

I'm not bias or anything, but why not have a ride of the FSR XC

Although I really fancy a Focus First at the mo.

When my bike gives up the ghost, I will be buying another Focus thats how much I love them.

    Other than that a Cube.

You get so so so much more for your money and people rave about the quality .

Becuase Trek and spech and gt have made a name for themselves over the years they can hike up the prices and lower spec and they know people will buy.

But because focus and cube are quite new to the uk scene the prices are lower.

Do re-search, I did not even ride on my focus before I bought and I fell in love with the looks weight and overall quality.

I have upgraded so far to make it lighter.

    Ritchey WCS wet black stem
    Ritchey WCS carbon bars
    Hope seatpost QR
    and superstar QR skewers

I rekon I have saved another 1-2lbs, from the already low 27lbs

  • Thanks chaps, I'll have a look at all suggestions. Especially Cube.

A bit inhibited by the £1000 cycle to work scheme limit.
My company does it through Halfords, and unlike other bike shops that might do you a deal on the side so you can pay a bit extra and get a better bike, they won't allow you to do that.

They acquire the bike your after somehow, and get it delivered to a local Halfords, who will build it and fit it for you !! Not a chance thanks, I'll build it myself, what with their mechanics !!!

If anyone else has any suggestions, keep them coming.
