I managed to buy some brand new Schwalbe Stelvio evolution tyres (front and rear specific versions)from the stw classifieds for £25,some time ago.
Are they OK for winter use,or shall I save them for summer?
Bike is a Trek 1200 currently shod with the standard Bontrager Select tyres.

It rains here pretty much the same winter or summer (in fact winter has been drier in recent years) so I'm not a big believer in distinguishing. I only used Stelvios for a couple of months until both tyres were destroyed by blowouts. Could have just been unlucky though, I wouldn't necessarily hold that against them.

Replaced with Ultremos which I am very happy with. Have Gatorskins on my tourer.

Have had a lot of punctures on Bontrager Race Lite tyres but found them very grippy. Again could have just been bad luck.

I use the Stelvio Plus in winter. A bit heavy but seem very tough - no punctures yet. These grip the road better than my previous Conti 4 seasons.
  • I used Stelvios last year and one only lasted 7 weeks before the sidewall blew
  • Mine did about 300 miles before cutting up badly. Didn't find them inspiring in the wet. Put on Rubino Pros instead (2800 miles) and no punctures (4 seasons of riding). Stelvios used on the turbo bike.
