Hey

This is what I am looking for as the lockblock on I got moves.

This seems really solid and it moves angles and it looks like you can just unclip and go.

Just thought some of you would like to know as I know supersonic and cougie have torch's for their bikes.

  • Looks good, nice price too. I am on the look out for things like this to kit out a new bike.

Are there any benefits to using a torch mounted, rather than a dedicated Cateye light or similar, apart from the cost?

I have a fenix TK11, ITS AMAZING, do a search its 50.00. and you can see for miles and its only like 2 inches long

Cateye is only for comutting, I still think they are not safe for roads, people can see me coming.

The won't fit oversize handlebars or at least they won't fit mine

I emailed the guy in hong kong on ebay, so will let you know if they are any different or any other sizes, and let you know.

It does look the same though
  • I've got one of these and can confirm that they only just about fit onto my oversize bars - and it is quite a squeeze with the bolt flexed so how long it will last is unknown. Having said that it isn't going anywhere and does work well. Also found that the torch section is a little large for my Ultrafire torch and needs a small bit of additional padding to get good tension.

As for these chinese torches -fenix etc I agree that they are amazing value and work really well. I picked up a Cree Q5 torch - about 130mm long, 270 lumens, with batteries, charger and bar holder for under £30. I did find that the rechargeables were a little fat for it and the torch peeled the wrappers off the batteries but they still seem to work fine. I've ended up getting a helmet holder and it works really well - like a fancy Joystick but for a fifth of the price. I think I will try and pick up another with a wider reflector for the handlebars.

Those clamps are known for being cheap and falling apart, be wary.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Anyone know which of the Fenix (or other brand) have a wider beam?

"orange peel" reflector fenix models have a smoother hotspot to falloff/fill beam, the sometimes call them "textured reflector" too.

    Cheers for that dunker.

also i think one of the fenix models lets you adjust the beam spread, LD20? not sure.

edit; E20. dunno how wide it goes though.

    edit2;
    http://edcforums.com/index.php?topic=19387.msg228400 review there.
the wide angle spread looks similar to the L2D with a textured reflector, but the E20 looks a little wider.
  • I was looking at this. Loads of lumens (even if it only puts out half that claimed) and with a 54mm lens which is twice the diameter of the one I have now.
