I just bought a pair of Castelli Slide gloves for £35. Not the cheapest, but very warm and not too bulky.0

I've got a pair of the sealskinz gloves, and they've been brilliant, highly recommended.0

Depends how cold you want to go out in but I've got some Sealskinz gloves - and they're truly awful. Am trying to get some use out of them on a 5 mile winter commute but if I forget to keep my fingers together, things can get really cold.
Not convinced of their water proof qualities either.
Mrs Wakemalcolm who feels the cold more than I do uses the Endura lobsters with some Sealskinz merino liners (which are quite good actually) and she loves them.================================

Tried my Seal Skinz Technical Mountain Bike Gloves last Sunday (did 30 miles) and am pleased to say not only were they very comfortable but also very warm and dry.

If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times - sealskinz gloves and socks are not waterproof!0

I went for the Endura ones last year and they let rain in no problem at all. Slighest shower and the hands are damp and cold. Hate them so will be interested to hear what comes up this year as recommendations. Their padding is also crap as I get more numbness in my hands than when I wear my Spesh BG mitts. In the dry they keep my hands toasty warm so there's something good about them.0

I just bought some of the fluoro Sealskins and they are good for visibility but not for warmth. When it was cold last week my hands were cold on my 10 minute commute to work. A 2 hour ride would have been a bit miserable.
Havent tried them in the rain but my sealskinz socks have always been waterproof, even when totally submerged.0 -
ive just bought a great package from lewiskit.com , 3 pairs of merino wool socks ( retail 25 quid ) plus .... base layer fleece gloves ( with pads ) & top layer cold weather gloves ........................ er 25 quid !!
basically internet deal so your getting something for nothing . socks are comfy and warm and the 2 sets of gloves give you options about what you want/need0 -

Wrong.....the gloves use a waterproof membrane and I have immersed both hands in a bucket of water to prove this over and over again.
They are the only choice of glove for me, I use:

with the liner glove on really cold days.0 -
I agree that is dead wrong. I have stood in rivers wearing running shoes with Sealskinz socks on and my feet have not got wet.0

OP,
I bought some o those gloves just last week and I've had cold fingers twice today. For what they cost that's very disappointing.Looks like I'll need some liners for xmas.

I have some Biemme winter gloves. I bought them from Decathlon last year, and they have been really good. They have been keeping my hands nice and warm on long rides and commutes, and it's been around 40F here.0

Hi.
Just how "padded" is the silicon gel palm on those?.
I am looking for a new pair of winter gloves but I like a large amount of gel padding on my gloves ( either winter or summer ). I know that might a bit odd - 'tis just the way I like me gloves...!!!. 8)Ethernet (noun): Something used to catch the etherbunny.

Anything with "cycling" in the description seems to cost twice as much as others, so I searched on "insulated gloves" on ebay and bought some from a outdoor shop in Scotland for £2.50.
I'll tell you how they are after Sunday!Half man, Half bike0 -

well their socks do a great job of keeping my feet warm and dry! :roll:0 -
On Sealskinz, they are totally waterproof. But they can fail, if they aren't keeping you dry then they aren't working. I sent my last pair of Sealskinz gloves back to the factory (they were about 2 years old) when they leaked. They sent me a replacement pair free of charge the next day! When I got them I read the care instructions "do not dry near sources of heat" - whoops, I no longer put them on the radiator!
Brilliant service from the company, they didn't need to replace them but they did without question.0 -
I've had a pair of Assos Thermax for the last 3-4 years - starting to wear a bit now but I've been really pleased with them - warm enough in all but sub zero temperatures - not absolutely waterproof but don't soak it up and not too bulky.
it's a hard life if you don't weaken.0 -
Everything other than riding in minus zero temps and De Feet DuraGloves' always seem plenty warm enough to me? I do pull my Falke thermal sleeves down to my knuckles and then put the De Feets over the top though which I find helps. Just been out for 30 miles this morning at 4 degrees with 30mph headwind and hands were toasty. Feet however are always my problem. I must get some Sidi Toasties I think?0

Has anyone tried the pearl izumi pittard thermals? claim to be wind/water proof and look pretty streamlined.0

i picked up some nike windtex winter gloves for £10. AMAZING so wind proof and they dry quick. Have a search online for them. Top gloves0

AVOID - specialized "deflect" - the outlaws asked my LBS to recommend some "warm waterproof gloves" to give their beloved son in law last Xmas and had these useless arictles foisted on them. windproof on the backs only - paper thin faux suede on the fingers & palms soaks up water & disintergrates.

If I was running Campag or Shimano Sora on my winter bike I could recommend Spesh Radiants. Certainly warm and waterproof to a high degree. Not quite as breathable as you might desire but a decent compromise. Unfortuantely I find mine (2007's) to be a little bulky for changing gears with the higher-end Shimano levers.
Currently using Assos Early Winter 851 gloves. Love these with their uber long cuffs0 -
I use neoprene sailing gloves - musto's, an older version of these: http://marinestore.co.uk/Merchant2/merc ... sto-gloves
Thing I like is that if you get a bit hot and sweaty the glove just absorbs the moisture. Very windproof and stays warm when wet. also they last forever, which has always been my problem with waterproof/breathable gloves. Cant go wrong really.0 -
I have some 'Penta' gloves from Decathlon. They were about 8 quid on offer, look awesome and are nice and warm without being bulky with decent padding and snot wipe area.
They are all I wear (gloves wise, I do wear other clothes!!) even at 3 in the morning in freezing temperatures.
These look like thge newest versions...

I have the four pairs of Assos gloves liners, ALS insulators, winter gloves and lobster shells and my hands still get cold wearing a combination of them or all of them at once! I have yet to find a pair of gloves or a system in any material that keeps my hands warm over my 2 and a half hour commute let a lon on a long sunday ride.
That said I have just contacted the Reynaulds society about some heat therapy fleece mitts and wrist warmers that utilise a small heat pouch that apparently keeps warm for up to 7 hours. If they are thin enough to wear underneath my Assos winter gloves and shells they could be the solution.
