Hey just wondering about skewers.
I know if QR are too loose then wheels fall off.
But I want to make sure this does not happen.
But when is tight too tight?
Thanks guys.

when you can not open it.
when closing it it should leave a nice impression on the palm of your hand."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

The correct leverage is when you start to feel resistance in the lever when it just reaches 90 degrees from closed. Shimano make the best QRs. Some QR levers require more hand force:

Thanks guys.
So using leverage to close should be ok.
Really tight is not going to hurt then.
Thanks again0 -

You can over tighten anything if you try hard enough, and it most definitely will do some damage if you do. What damage I wouldn't know, but I know from experience that if you overtighten the wheel nut on a car alloy you can easily cause it to fracture. Just an example.
With time you tend to get a "feel" for how tight is tight enough.0 -
I tend to twist and tighten while having a 90 degree bend, I then 'loosen' the lever, give a half turn on the opposing side, then close the lever.0
