SKS Mudguards - Losing the will to live

Hi Guys

I'm trying to fit a set of SKS Chromoplastics to my winter bike. However, the instructions are as clear as mud and so far I have a rear mudguard that has no clearance at the front/top and about 3" at the rear! Pretty it is not!

Where's the best place to put the rear bridge bracket? I reckon it would probably be best like in this pic:

However, the hole in the bracket is not wide enough for me to get the brake nut through. If I do it the way shown in the instructions (i.e. same way as in the above photo but attached to the other side of the bridge (touching the brake callipers)) then it fits fine but the clearence above the tyre is very tight.

Any ideas before I scream?

Thanks!

It should be on the other side, between the bridge and the brake. Are you aware that the alloy bracket can be moved on the mudguard to find the best position? It's fiddly but rocket science it ain't.

If close to the tyre when betwixt brake and bridge then take a file to the bracket and lower the hole closer to the tyre, being alloy and thin won't take much effort to increase the length of the hole.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

I remove the metal bracket and tie with zip-ties to the bridge - no rattles ever, no rusting, easier to install (and remove if necessary)

    Thanks - all sorted now.

Cheers for all your help guys.

I thought the winter warrior was all ready to go. However, now I have a nasty squeak when I pedal.. :(

For future reference, the best way of all is drilling and tapping the bridge M4 and bolting the mudgaurd directly in - lower the profile of the bolthead on a bench grinder if required.
