And his celebration was awesome. All that speed and aggression and he just used to take his hands off the bars calmly and bend his elbows behind his head before stretching the arms straight right on the line...

What power! He and John Paul Van Poppel were both sensational finishers. Nijdam would go and go. His wins in the 1989 Tour de France were typical. He's now running a hotel in the south of Hollland somewhere along the Amstel Gold route.
