Front changer cable routing issue
Wilier Izoard
When I clamp the cable to the front changer it rubs on the main spring of the mech. The cable routes out of the top of the BB and up into the clamp but doesn't clear the mech.
I think I noticed that before the cable was changed it was clamped in the top of the clamp causing it to curve up into the top of the clamp, was this so it cleared the rest of the changer and is it the correct procedure?
It seems to me that if the cable does a tight curve into the clamp the gear change will be less positive

Will - some front mechs require the wire to be routed horizontally across the top of the cable bolt, rather than vertically down the side.
I had this same issue at the weekend when fitting an FSA front derailleur. On my model, there was a tab to keep the cable from slipping down into the path of the mech - yours may have the same.
One word of warning - with the cable coming out of the bolt horizontally, you'll need to clip and crimp the wire quite close to the bolt due to the reduced pedal clearance. Therefore make sure you're happy with the clamping and tension of the cable before you get the cutters out!0 -

Ahhh, that's what that tab is for. So the cable goes round the outside of the tab? In the camapg instructions it shows the cable coming down from above!
This way of routing over the tab surely reduces the sharpness of the change?0
