What helmets does everyone use? I have a Bell Venture which is broken (stood on it!) No sure weather to get a full face, i like them but not sure if it would be too muhc for just XC, and if it would get too hot and steamy inside...

Have seen people with Full Face on XC guess it depends how you ride, how long (could be very hot for longer rides?) and how often you come off and how bad.

I got cheap Giro Havoc cost about £36 on net from about £50ish I think. I have to adjust the chin strap B4 every ride beacause of this I will be looking for better strap hat. Its OK for head temp but never really been too been a concern. Nice comfy fit.

    Cheers

I'd not go for a full face for xc, waaaay too hot.

Find a new helmet that fits you

Specialized 2D (with visor attached for mountain biking).

Great do-it-all helmet if you have any skinny-tyred tendencies (visor removed).

I use a Specialized Air Force 3. It has plenty of vents to keep your head cool , it's nice and light weighing only 270g. Haven't tested how tough it is yet. (tbh i dont really want to lol)

Giro Encinale - basic, fits, vents well, looks okay in black, conforms to safety standards.
Can't see the point in spending any more!

I use a Catlike Kompact Pro... very comfy. Very happy with it, take the battery for my Ay-Ups perfectly. I would suggest it will function the same for those who use helmet lights. The back is nice and flat(somewhat)

  • i have recently got myself a 661 skate lid which is pretty good, not too hot on long rides or anything but after falling and cutting my face up a bit i think i'll be getting myself a full facer, i think i cn put up with a bit of sweat if it saves me from some bad scars.

For trail riding I use the Fox Flux too (camo colour). It's a quality helmet! It gives plenty of protection to the back of your neck when tumbling. And it's not heavy at all like they say. It's just that other helmets weigh absolutly nothing so it feels heavy in comparison:
