Cycle Computers
Should I...
buy a Boardman wireless cadence cycle computer for £40 and use my old polar HRM watch seperately or...
Save up a little and buy the Polar CS100b for £50 and the cadence kit for£18.
Anyones experience on longevity, important functional pros/cons and any other products to consider.
Much obliged

Whatever you get, you want to be able to upload data.
I'd suggest one computer to do it all as you don't want to have to move to read your output. My hrm even works when not attached to the bike, currently 64bpm!0 -
Does the cs100 upload? I can't seem to find that out from the website. Does anyone know?
EDIT
er...
Upon reading the site a little more carefully, it seems that the cs200 is uploadble and the cs100 is not. In which case, does everyone agree with the above statement that having an uploadable HRM is necessary?Legs, lungs and lycra.

If you go for the CS100b make sure your current heart strap is compatible. It needs to be a coded one so either a Wearlink or T31C. I made the mistake of getting the CS100b as I thought I would save money as I had a T31 strap already, but as it was not coded it wouldn't register, so ended up buying a Wearlink which added up to more than if I had got the CS100 package with strap.

I got my Sigma BC2006 brand new for £45. OK you can't upload data, but does everything else including heart monitor.0

Lidl £20.00, complete with transmitter belt which also works with my Tacx Flow turbo.
Heart rate (current average and max), gradient, speed (current average and max), distance, 19 laps, distance ascended/descended, temperature, odo, time, kcals burnt, weight lossed.
No cadence though.
And it looks OK.

I brought my first one from Aidl it went wrong. I took it back for exchange and that went wrong as well. In the end I got fed up and got a refund from Aidl and brought the Sigma.
The build quality of the Sigma is so good. Ii can't understand why I didn't do that in the first place.0 -

My Aldi computer filled up with water during an admittedly very wet sportive. The buttons stopped working and the screen randomly changed to different readings. Soon found its way to the bin0 -

It wasn't just me then!
Have to say they are very poor quality. What I found most different in the Sigma to the Aidl one. Is the way the magnet attachs to the wheel. The Sigma good design, the Aidl one very poor, which most probably contributed to it only working when it felt like it!

Just found this:-The Polar CS range can interface with the Polar Weblink service to store training data. Please see more information on RHS. It does NOT download to your local PC, just the Polar online diary.

Ive had a CS200 for over a year and upload data to the online Polar Training website.
It gives you some bar charts showing lap times etc and you can review extended training periods at a glance. Quite good really.
Ive used the CS200 in all weather and never had a problem with it taking in water.
They can be a SOB to set up and sometimes stop working when near to overhead power cables etc. I found cycling near to a local rail station locked it up completely, which is very frustrating.
I guess this will happen with any wireless transmitter.
Im assuming of you buy a Polar cs100 you will get the strap with it and the speed sensor, If you want cadence as well you need the CS200. There is a difference between the chest strap for the 100 and 200 models, but the 200 and 400 models use the same.
I cant comment on other products but a lot of people use cat eye computers and their stuff seems to be well made.
I guess you need to decide if you want to view data on your PC or just on the unit.Specialised Epic MTB on slicks.
