Bought some thinner bars for the wifes tiny hands but cant seem to find any smaller gauge lock on grips.

Do they exist?

  • Hmm, I wasn't expecting that.

I'm supposed to be picking them up on Saturday.

I was told that these were thinner women specifics used on a Santa Cruise especially for the smaller handed species of woman.

Have I been sold up the swanny?

narrower yes but all bars are 22.2mm on the grip area.

Any particular reason you need lock-ons? Decent slip-on grips can be a smaller diameter and provided you secure them properly you shouldn't have any problems.

Specialized rocco lock-ons are pretty slim, and available in all sorts of colours :D
  • Okay, Nicklouse, not sure what the bars are called but they are aparrently from a Santa Cruise GDR.
Dave, the wife had a bad crash last winter when one of her grips slid on a very wet day in Cumbria. Shes been locked on ever since. Said I would try for locks if they are available.
Steve, I'll look into those. Hope they do a tartan on a pink base colour. . . :D

I can only presume you mean the Titec Hell cat bars, these have a smaller diameter at 19mm. I believe they normally come with the grips however:

No, quite right. Thats all there is.
  • Okay thanks guys.

Interestingly, I read in a review of ladies specific rigs in What Mountain Bike, that the Marin Juniper Trail comes with custom bars measuring 19.1mm at the grip so Nicklouse is right, they are not readily available. And yes, it seems no lock ons are available either.

    Every days a school day.

    Thanks for all your help.
