I've got a big head !!

My cycle helmet is a Met (the biggest one they make) and its ok to use in normal circumstances, but when it gets cold I like to use a thin skull cap hat underneath it and the helmet can't cope with that, it just sticks miles up on top of my head. It looks stupid and probably isn't very safe.

Does anyone know who makes a helmet big enough to take my very big head with a thin hat on ?

  • I tried Met when I was getting a new helmet. My LBS doesn't stock the Testagrosa (that's what their big one is called, IIRC) but the biggest one they did stock barely fit and wasn't comfortable - and I wouldn't have been able to get a skull cap underneath. I ended up with a Specialised Air8. Really comfy and prevented any injuries to my head other than a friction burn on my ear when I came off my MTB and knocked myself out cold for 15 minutes!

Lazer used to be known for larger-than-normal helmets, I think.

Not seen much of them in non-motorised bikes recently, but I've not really looked.

I struggled to find one too, until I tried the Bell Variant and my search was over, good helmet too.

Specialized make good helmets (kids have them) so if they fit as Underscore says then that would also be a good choice.
  • i've got a large head and dreads and can't fint in anything in the met range so you're head can't be that huge.

i found that the giro hex and E2 in the biggest size both fit well, also the LAS squalo is an ok fit but i have my reservations about them as a company hence going with the giro

    hope that helps

I din't know how many are available in the UK, but.........

He that buys flesh buys many bones.
He that buys eggs buys many shells,
But he that buys good beer buys nothing else.</b></i>
