Entry level cross wheel set
Hi,
I've pretty much decided to buy a second set of wheels for my cross bike. I'm very much at the beginner stage - I've done a few organised training sessions, and I'm hopefully going to do a few races, possibly the first one on Sunday.
I'm looking for another set of wheels because I also use the bike for commuting, and changing wet muddy cross tyres for slicks in our kitchen on a regular basis is wearing thin and getting wet grass everywhere, it'll give me a backup set so I can put wheels into the shop, and it'll mean I do have two sets to cover flats/damage come a race.
I've been suggested Mavic Aksiums in a 32 spoke triple cross build by the bike shop. I think these a possibly better than my current set. Do these seem a reasonable set to go for, bearing in mind all I've said? Is there any other good options around the same price?
Cheers,
Steve

Depends on your weight.
I think the shop meant Mavic Open Pros / 32 spokes. I would also recommend these. Pair then with a Ultrega hubs and they are pretty bullet proof.
My first race tomorrow as well.Paul0 -
Nope, it was definitely Aksiums. These seem to come on quite a few entry level cross bikes these days, from a google search.
Good luck with your race!

But not with 32spokes!
