When does a seat need to be retired?

Hi all
I have a bontrager gel seat on my Trek 1.7, which I have used coming on a year and done roughly 4,880km on.
Just recently I have felt that the seat seems to be getting a bit soft or flexible (Bouncy) in the middle of the seat. (Though there is no discomfort on any journeys)
How long do seat's really last?
How often do you replace your seat's?
If I did need to replace the seat, what should I get in a resonable budget (say £50-£100)
"and no I am not putting any extra pounds on!"
Thanks looking forward to hear from you..

I am with John T on this, if it is still comfortable then leave well alone. Personally I don't use gel seats so not sure how long they last.

Most of them are not really gel though. They're foam. Same goes for gloves.
Even so, foam gets old and wears out (doesn't retain its shape or springyness)ç
If it's still comfy, keep using it.0 -
ditto !
I only replace saddles when they either start to crack where the supports are moulded into the body or the leather wears away at the sides. I've used Flites in the past, both gel & standard, and I'd guess they've been on for at least 20,000 miles.
They usually look very scruffy before they fall apart....0 -
Thanks to you all for your feedback, I will continue in comfort.
Thanks again0
