Squeaky Disc Brakes

I've been having problems with my front brake squeaking. I posted a thread on a local forum (Chase Trails) asking for solutions, and was told to soak the pads in oil. I did this, and although the squeaking has gone, I seem to be having trouble stopping, any ideas?

They said soak the pads in oil?!!!! Post back, and ask the silly barstard to pay you for a new set of pads, as they are now totally ruined!
Some just squeak - check the stickies for an article on set up and squeaking.
Any trace of oil on pads or rotors seriously cocks up stopping.0 -
Err new pads and clean the rotor with isopropanol alcohol."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
