Campag Chorus front/left shifter question

Hi

I'm currently fitting the campag chorus 2008 groupset to a new frame. Have only ever used Shimano before, so apologies if this is a daft question.

The left side / front mech shifter seems to be indexed in the same way as the rear (i.e. you can click it 9 times for it to move through 9 changes). I wasnt planning on having 9 chainrings :) though. I take it this is normal? so when you change chainrings you just crack through 4-5 clicks in one push, and then dump the lot in one thumb movement?

I havent noticed this when I've ridden campag.chorus bikes, so i'm guessing that on the road it feels natural?

Cheers

Jon

It allows you to trim the front mech slightly if you get chainrub, depending on which rear gear you're in.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

And makes for a much more enjoyable ride for those times on Shimano kit where you just can't avoid that rub in the gear you need to use! 8)

You'll find when you set it up that it only takes 2 or 3 clicks (in a continuous movement) to go from one chainring to the other. The best way to set it up (i think this is in the instructions) is so that it goes from the small chainring to the large in two clicks (from the bottom of the range on the ergo). This is most efficient, while still allowing one click on either side to trim if necessary (which is all you ever need).
