hi iv been riding for a few years now but iv just recently started getting into it alot.i was wondering how you become a bike mechanic or work in your local bike shop.

any help would be appriciated

    Talk to the manager and ask him if there are any positions available currently or in the future.

    This time of year is great to apply for a job at a bike shop because lots of them will be taking orders for xmas!

    If you go down to the shop and say that you want to become a bike tech then they will probs ask for expericne. So what id say is to go down and ask them if you could learn
    how to build bikes with them.
    It will be basic pay and hard work as at our shop we have about 50 bikes a day go out for christmas. So these all need to be built! You could be asked to do about 25 bikes a day full setup from kids bikes to a zaszkar carbon!
    and you get about 15 mins for each bike! (BMX's with gyro can be the worst!) but at the end you will know a fair bit about them. And if you work hard enough they probs will keep you on or ask you to come back in feb.
