morning all - my gears (Deore LX) are slipping on the back rings of my GT. when i change gear and pedal, the chain will slip down a ring at the back (depending on the gear that i'm in) so am guessing its just a case that they need adjusting?

i'll read the park tools faq on how to adjust gears as ive never done it before - but before i do is there a likely cause/solution? is it just a case of adjusting the barrel at the end of the cable?

cheers.

cables apparently can stretch, and or get sticky etc.

longer cable = less tension = need to readjust gears.

you could try just adjusting the barrel.....that would be my first choice, but remember you want to leave some adjustment in there so you can make a little change on the trail if you need to.
