Can get a good deal on the following wheels, any ideas which is best?.
Needed as a backup/ commute pair

Shimano RS 20
Mavic Aksium
Fulcrum 7's

I weigh around 82Kg so I'm thinking the fulcrums probably aren't a good idea. Tending towards the Shimanos as I can get them for < £100

If you go for the Fulcrum don't forget the earplugs too....I've just swapped mine to the Aksiums.

Which are the better - IMO.....

Yes, I have the Racing & they are noisy. The noise is a different tone to the racing 3s for some reason. I find them very good though. All pretty much the same though really.

Ditto. I've got a pair of Racing 3's for my Izoard and, like my DT Swiss wheels with their 240s hubs, the freehub is loud but it is a sound that echoes of quality.
The freehub in my Racing 7's on the other hand sounds like a football rattle you might get free with a McDonald's Happy Meal. They've remained true though. Still think with the benefit of hindsight I'd of opted for another set of Aksiums.

Whereas the new Racing 5s have a hub that makes an almost imperceptible purring noise! I like it but it does mean the cyclist in front will have no idea you're there...
  • The RS20's don't have many spokes... I'd go with the mavics or the fulcrums.
  • I just don't understand why you're all freewheeling...
