Morning all

I have a 2007 model Tricross sport, bog standard specification including carbon front forks/seatpost, road use only. I am, however, a chubby 98kg, one of the reasons I bought a Tricross rather than a pure road bike.

My question is, I recall seeing or reading somewhere that the carbon forks and seat post ought to be renewed after 2 years of use; has anybody got any views or experiences to share on this?

Tks

A

Not seen that - two years seems very short and for a sunday rider - that could mean replacing your forks after under a hundred rides ? A hard core racer would be a harsher test - so a set period doesnt make any sense ?
  • carbon lifespan would be more than steel because it does not flex - therefore no metal fatigue

steel bikes last 20 - 50 years or more
  • Replace it if it fails(which is unlikely uless it is REALY cheap)
