hi
ive got a focus superbud with the magura louise disc brakes fitted
i got the bike from austria so the brakes were the wrong way around
so i swapped the brake pipes over pretty simple really
but got air in the system as u would expect
so got the magra bleed kit and bled both brakes
but cant seem to get them right
ive bled them twice now and they dont seem right?
i have to pull them right to the bars before they work
they dont have much stopping power if u ask me
plus the squeak a lot under hard braking
are magura brakes a bit shit or is it just me? lol

you're not doing it right.
luckily maguras are really easy if you know how, which i can't remember off the top of my head, but look on their website for the instructions.0 -

its pretty much striaght forward reallyfocus superbud0 -
Once you get all the air out of the top, put the reservoir cap back on, and push a little more fluid in. Then, (and you need to be quick) remove the syringe from the caliper and put the bleed screw back in asap.
They are messy and bloody horrible brakes to work on, but when they work, they're very good brakes.
On my HS33's I replaced the bleed screw with a Hope bleed nipple,(same thread pitch) and I can bleed them from the top with no mess. But I've not been able to do it on Magura discs yet because the bleed port is deeper (I've not tried for 2 years though, so this may be worth a try) then you can bleed them clean like motorcycle or car brakes. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.0 -
Sorry to highjack.
But I have the Superbud as well.
I was told their are two different types of brakes, 1 mineral and the other oil I think.
Are the magura's the mineral ones were you only have to bleed like once a year or less?
Thanks, as I have my bike since november and only have had it serviced and this is what the tech guy said.
Thanks again0
