Any bargain winter bikes about?

Looking for something £300 or less. Plenty of hardtail mountain bikes with disc brakes for under £300 but haven't come across any road bikes yet...

Could try your local 'ahem' bike hut. I got a year old Vanquish with Tiagra/105 for around that price. I have slapped some SKS gaurds on and it is proving to be excellent for commuting on.

Definitely Halfords/Bikehut, that Raleigh Airlite for example is a pile of junk compared to the Carrera I bought for £220 as my winter bike. If you're too much of a snob to have 'Carrera' written on your bike just buy some stickers and cover it up!

I was going to get a cheap Ribble bike, or see if my LBS had any older / ex demo machines that would make a great winter bike, however I read the above post and checked out halfords website.

I managed to pick up a Carrera Vanquish 06 at the weekend for a bargain price.

18 speed compact, Tigra shifters, 105 rear mech, mudguard & rack mounts

Currently the Adult small is £319 online, but they were doing 10% off, and I got another 4% off going by quidco (cashback site), & with cashback on the credit card I reckon it comes to sub £275 8)

I was worried about the size, as I've 5'11 but it didn't feel cramped just a bit heavy, especially compared to my Trek and fixie Langster. Wasn't till I was checking it over at home I noticed they had actually sold me a medium frame
(note: these are not listed on the website so I guessing so inventory error)

Very pleased with my purchase, just need to tighted one spoke :roll: , swap the pedals and fit my light and guards.
