Which Tyre

I am looking to buy some new tyres and am thinking of buying some Panaracer Cinders.

I currently have Continental Mountain Kings 2.2 (non Blach Chilli version).

I find they are good on smooth hardpacked singletrack but put them near wet rocks, roots, or mud and they are sketchy to say the least.

I want a tyre I can leave on all year round and I will possibly stick the Con Mk back on if we have a spell of dry weather (I said if!).

Are the Cinders a good choice?

What would you recommend?

How about some Nevegals ? FWIW I used a Nobby Nic up front and a Racing Ralph on the back over 'summer' and they performed great. I've just swapped the Ralph for a Nic and they grip well in mud and over slippery rocks/roots.

Bit fragile though and kindof expensive.
  • Ye a couple of my mates use Nevegals so they had crossed my mind thanks, as had the Nobby Nics.

Does anyone use the Cinders or can suggest which onne to go for?
  • Put a Fire XC Pro on the rear and it's been out twice so far in horrendous mud and wet roots and it's been great.

I've used Cinders in the past and they are 1st rate all rounders - as are Fire XC Pros - but they are not a specialist wet/winter tyre and won't work miracles on wet roots/limestone.

Got the Black Chili MKs (in 2.2) and think it makes a big difference in grip levels.

I'd use High Rollers for an all year round tyre, obviously going to have compromises over swapping between summer/winter tyres though (given summer lasted about a week that's probably not much of a concern).
