Disc hub o new wheel...

I just ordered a set of Shimano XT hydraulic brakes. unortunately I've only just noticed that, even tough they seem to be identical in every other respect and my font wheel has a disc hub, my rear wheel does not.
So a) is it possible to replace just the wheel hub and is this advisable? or b) is it better/necessary to get a new rear wheel? if b then any recommendations on a strict budget as i've just blown most of it on discs?

are you 100% sure it is not disc ready?
the newer splined disc mounts from shimano have a rubber cover over them that at first look can look like a non disc hub."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

The two hubs loo identical except the front one, which is fitted with a mechanical disc has the 6 bolt fitting next to a narrow rubber, where the rear hub has a much wider slightly conical rubber... i would be surprised if it had a splined mount... but if it doesi'd still be screwed as both discs i got are IS 6 bolt typesEmerald MTB - Riding bikes, exploring trails, meeting people, trying products and a bit of racing in Ireland!0

can you take pictures of both hubs, "disc"side."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ok here are the photos (apologies for the low quality, they're phone camera pics)
Front mechanical disc hub - 6 bolt:
And rear hub - apparently no disc fitting...

yes you were right the rear is a non disc hub."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Shame, but never mind
So will this 6 bolt rear wheel make a good replacement?

or can i save a bit of cash and get this pair - are they significantly worse than the Mavic above?
