Been looking at the Soloist Team frame but noticed that it has nothing to allow for gear adjustments on the cable stops?

Will it run Campag? Do you just run it without any adjusters?

You don't need any adjusters, you can always get them if you want them though.

Ok, can see my way around that so all good.

BUT, why have I not seen any Cervelo wearing Campag?? They all seem to be Shitmano-shod!

    Any justifiable reason? :?

  • Why the soloist Team? I would have thought going from Ti to an Alu frame would be somewhat of a shock to the system or is it the aero factor that your after?

Nowt to do with the aero factor, just really like them :D
  • Fair enough, have you ridden one? Just curious if you know what to expect in terms of ride comfort?

Not long distance, but yes I know what to expect. It's nothing definite, but it's certainly top of the list at the moment.
  • well good luck to you, another member of the Cervelo club is always welcome. If we ever hook up in the park it will certainly make you easier to spot

Can heartily recommend Slane Cycles for good deals on Cervelo - got my R3 from them and absolutely love it (complete with Campag).

Carry lots of stock and worth a phonecall to get a quote for their best price with free postage.

The Soloist team is great! I don't get people who complain about how stiff it is that its uncomfortable, its not.

There's nothing "technically wrong" with the Soloist team, but it's way overpriced. I'd definitely swap my carbon frame for one, but not at that price.

The CAAD9 is a far better Alloy frame and a complete bike can be bought for less than the cost of just a Soloist Team frame.

I queried this as it is generally accepted that Alu frames are stiff and unforgiving. While I have no experience of the Soloist Team I have ridden several carbon and Alu frames and there is a difference in ride comfort.

Rich, the Soloist Team will become the S1 as of next year. I think it will ultimately still be the same frame albeit getting a new paint job. Now would be a good time to strike a deal assuming you can find a frame in your size, don't wait too long though as discounted Cervelos don't hang around.

Yeah I saw that on the (finally updated) Cervelo site last night - thankfully I can't stand the new colours so the ano black Soloist Team I've found for £700 may well be getting ordered later! 8)

Quality titanium frame -> average alloy frame (with a nicer brand name on)

And very nice it looks too my friend! 8)

Silver bar tape would look better IMO though, and gets less dirty (or at least the dirt is less noticable!):lol:

I know I know, but I can't afford to go Ti again and I fancy trying something different

Ha, yes i know what you mean, the "euro" look has been good all summer, may need to move to black tape over winter though. Silver isn't a bad option actually...

Although you might need a silver saddle to match...
  • :P I bought one yesterday :P . In the cool black anodized finish from EBC at £699. I am currently gnashing my teeth with excitment/anticipation waiting for it to turn up... Just got to build the thing up once it arrives now...

    What size??

They only had 2 56cm ones left, I better be quick!!
  • .....56. That was first thing yesterday morning though and they told me they had 3 left at the time so unless there's been a real run on them you should be ok. Having said that I was umming and ahing about it all week but decided to go for it in case they ran out. Hope you manage to get one if that's what you want.

For what it's worth I reckon they're the businsess. I test rode a fair few carbon frames before coming down on the Soloist. I can only speak for myself, but it really is an extraodinary ride - like nothing else I've ridden before: very quick, eager and comfortable and not harsh at all. The only thing that was putting me off before was the red/grey or grey finish on the 07 models which I wasn't keen on. Seeing them in black (and on sale) at EBC made my mind up quick sharpish!
