Kool Stop Salmon pads on Campag Xenon calipers - How?

I'm trying to fit some Salmons on my bike for the pouring rain we're getting at the moment. The problem is, I have Xenon calipers, which come with standard blocks, with no carrier, and I haven't been able to find replacement Campag carriers (they only sell the rubber to go in them). At the moment, the only way I can see of getting it to fit, is to buy a set of Kool Stop carriers, but these come with dual compound pads, meaning I'd have to buy an extra pair of pads on top. For a similar price, I can get a pair of '06 Centaur brakes from CRC and the new pads to fit, which is quite tempting at the moment.

Any cheaper way of doing it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Probikekit have loads of campag compatible brake cartridge holders from about £6 a pair. If you want something a bit fancier then these guys are also pretty cheap and I've heard the pads are actually pretty good too.

You could just use the dual compound pads as is. I have them on my hybrid and like them a lot. That said, Centaur brakes are amazing and the current prices on the 06 ones make them a spectacular mega-bargain!

Thanks, I misread the PBK listings as being rubber only. However, having thought about it, I think I'm going to have to go for the Centaurs. £35 for a pair is just too good to pass up.
