When I broke the chain on my mtb I went to my lbs to get connector pinand they said running a 9spd sram powerlink would be fine. I thought they were not to be used when running shimano drivetrain components...or is this just corporate b s ...?

Any ideas?

SRAM's powerlink is one of the greatest pieces of biking tech, why anyone still uses a fiddly pin that u have to replace everytime u split the chain is absolutely beyond me.

    Yep....

Met a guy at the weekend who was struggling with a broken Shimano chain. Gave him a pair of powerlinks and chain fixed in seconds. He was impressed!

Yes definatley recommened, one of my mates is currently using 4 to keep his xtr chain together (tight fisted barsteward).
  • i've got a load of kmc ones and they are very handy! (£2.20 for 2 complete links at wiggle)
always handy to have a couple spares inthe back pack too!

but as said, just make sure that you get the correct one for the chain (ie 8speed, 9 speed etc!)
