hi all,
this is something i should know  , but whats the advantage of using folding tyres over wire bead tyres, or isnt there any except for the weight issue? thanks

Possibly a little stronger - easier to fit in a rucksack if you decide to take spares.

Also the top end tyres often have different compounds, sidewalls and constuection as well. Really isn't worth skimping here in my opinion, you can lose a lot of weight and have a big increase in performance for mere pounds. Can't say that about some stems and seatposts ;-)
  • yeah, worth the price for the weight saving. Also, sometimes the casing is better quality which can decrease rolling resistance & increase grip etc.

I noticed a massive improvement in acceleration when I changed my rear tyre to a kevlar folding.
