Wheels.. Opinion Please.
I'm looking for a set of wheels, i'm not racing but i will use the bike for long days out so would like to keep the bike as light as i can for as little money as i can, i would like some opinons on the following wheels with regards to weight ( or anything else you may think to comment on)

I've never heard of the first set, but Aksiums are quite common.0

The first set are a slightly lighter version of the Quest Como wheels (which I have), who sell them at 60 quid! The weights are so similar it's really not worth buying these ones for £120 for shimano and £125 for Campag. Bit of a rip off if you ask me.
Don't be mistaken, they are nice quality but are heavy wheels and warrant a frame light enough to carry it off if that makes sense.0 -
How about the Mavics, really like the look of the hubs on these, had a set in my hands today and compared to my crappy Alex rims they seemed pretty light, but what do i know lol.0

I'm happy with my Aksiums (2007's heavier model). I've had them since October and they've been bombproof. They haven't really been well looked after either.
Personally I think they're huge improvment over the Alexrim AT400's - laced with what I assume is linguine - on Specialized hubs that came with my Allez Sport which were constantly out of true.
With hindsight I wish I'd bought a set of the '08 Aksiums instead of the Fulcrum Racing 7s. :roll:0 -
Hi Paul Sh,
If you were interested i've currently got a pair of Aksiums for sale on ebay,
item number 320292427872
They're in excellent condition [hardly used] with a 10 speed ultegra cassette.
any questions welcome,
cheers , scurry
ps gonna try your 'how to post pics' tommorow,
as you can see i can't even put the ebay link on [technophobe]0 -
How much you wanting for them, i assume they will take a 9 speed cassette0

Consider a set of handbuilts.
105 hubs on open pros can be had for £135 from Ribble.
Even cheaper if you build them yourself.0 -
