Hi, probably been asked before, but does anyone know the airlines stipulations on the forementioned subject,

size / weight of bag and bike

what you are allowed to pack kit, tools wise

can you take it one way only

any other comments and recommendations

I am mainly concerned with Ryanair and Easyjet with a bias to Ryanair,
many thanks Scurry

Max weight 32kg. No gas canisters. You are supposed to deflate the tyres. Bike needs to packed in a suitable container and packed according to the airline regs

I've flown Easyjet with bikes no problem. Not done Ryanair though. Is there nothing on their website ?

Think the weight varies by airline. Easyjet allow 32kg but not sure all the others do?

32kg is the maximum weight limit for most airport baggage handling systems. You may also find some have maximum size restrictions. I'd strongly advise not to make your case/bag overly-heavy - when they fall they hit the ground harder and are more likely to damage the contents - I've seen bike boxes unceremonially 'unloaded' from the cargo hold directly onto the tarmac 3 metres below, whereas the lighter bags were lifted onto the baggage trucks.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I just travelled to Morzine with an Intense M3 and a mate had a Santa Cruz V10. Both flew with BA.
My bag came in at 25kg and was fine, mates was 32kg and was fine. Both where packed in a usual bike bag.

A helpful note is not to lock up the bag as the airport guys will want to have a look in the bag and check it out.

And I always try to check in early too - I think if you turn up late then they may be a bit more arsey about things. But thats just a theory.
