Can't put the receiver on the front forks because it cannot be positioned close enough to the wheel magnet,
This is the only place it will fit on the rear stays which because of their curves just fit.
Anyone else have any sucess fitting the receiver here ?

Can't get the blasted thing to work spinning the wheel by hand though. Its practically touching the magnet which must weigh 3lbs by itself

Are you sure the sensor is in range of the computer? Most wireless computers will only work from the front wheel due to range issues. What is the range in the manual, ~70cm or so?

I'd suggest trying a bit harder to get it working on the front.

As Red says, unless it specifically states to mount on the rear stays then it tends to be front mounting only due to a relatively short reception range from sensor to computer unit.
I have three Cateye Microwireless thingymagigs on both my MTBs and Allez. They all fit on the forks and all three are tilted a good way in in order to pick up a reading from the front wheel.

My Cateye V3 is chainstay mounted but it takes cadence and speed from the same unit.

Put it on a fork blade and angle itin a bit.

And get some correct-length cable outers too while you're at it ;-)

won't fit on the front blades .it just spins about due to the acute angle of the fork blades on the leading edge. I think its unlikely to have such a precise range as 700mm and not transmit a single mm further however at the moment it is not transmitting 100mm as I placed the computer alongside when testing.
I have noticed that the darn thing is registering something all the time and has done 372 miles overnight and lost 12905 calories !

I reckon it must be picking up my wireless modem router signals
I'll give it a try ouside t tonight when I can find some longer cable ties lol

Its a Halfrauds special and it doesn't seem to have a switch off . Takes 5 minutes of inactivity before it turns off

How close is the magnet to the wheel sensor, I have to have mine virtually touching with my polar setup or it just doesnt register. The other half has a VDO on her bike and theres a bit more tolerance with that. If it doesnt work with the computer within 100mm of the sensor then I would imagine thats what your problem is.

However my polar wont work with the sensor mounted on the rear stays and the computer on the stem as the distance is to great and the only way it works then is to zip tie the computer to the top tube, which for when the bikes on the turbo works fine it just looks cack.

The reason for the limited distance is the amount of radio power you can use for 'unlicenced' frequencies - any more power would require expensive testing/ licensing of the product - so you're probably limited to mounting on the front forks. Even with the most extreme bladed fork I've got the sensor to stay put - double-sided tape, a squishy rubber pad and cable ties helps
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Have you paired the receiver with the sensor? If it is a digital one you have to do this. Can't tell you how on your model.

Use a little bathroom silicone sealant and link little cable ties together if required to make longer ones.

silicon is a good idea ta .But seriously I don't think i need longer ties lol  :lol:

It must have turned itself off sometime today .I bought it used of fleabay so I reckon its probably screwed. The time and date settings don't come up on the menu at all.
Why does someone sell a brand new cycle computer ??? because it never worked is why grrrrrr. Its a Bikehut 12 function ! sadly none of them seem to work when you want them to

wellI just tried it again. The magnet is actually touching the sensor transmitter.it will only transmit 500mm tops.
It will have to be the front forks and fitted quite high because this is a big frame and the bars are 300mm above the brake caliper hole on the forks .

I'll use it for now and try find a better computer with big text
