SHIVER DC world cup

Looking for some information concerning these forks.
I have a pair of Shiver DC, dont know what year, Gold legs, red tops without blead screw, black preload adjusters, red axle clamps, black crowns.
They have label on the bottom of the outer sliders "WORLD CUP"
Had a problem where botom bolt has sheared off. this led me to investigate the inner cartridge.
The compression valve in the bottom of the cartridge's were sitting squint and not controlling the oil flow, this would explain why adjustments were not noticeable.
decided to replace both cartriges but not able to source them new so bought a set of shivers off ebay and used the cartidges from them.
when fitting them i noticed that the 2002 shivers do not have the 3 holes in the sides that my original dampers have.
Can anyone shed some light on my "world cup" forks or the 3 holes in there cartridges, why are they there and should i drill holes in new cartridges.
Thank you

yep thats my babies,
any ideas on the holes0 -
well as Marz tend to improve the damping each year or so i would not be changing the newer carts."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
