Polar CS100

It keeps making like a crackling or gasping sound all the time - even off the bike sitting on my desk.

The batteries seem to be running out really quick, changed it yesterday and it seemed to have gone flat again today.

Any body had any problems with them?

Yep . Had exactly the same thing on a POLAR CS200 . Went back to POLAR for repair 2 times under warranty eventually got a replacement new unit frmo POLAR .
Same thing happened on the new unit 6 months later .

Ditched it and bought a Garmin 305 when they were going cheap in PCWORLD . Its been great all summer .......Seen some dodgy reports also on Garmin battery life ; so far so good though .

Send it back to Polar, they'll sort it and probably for free.

I have a CS200 CAD and the speed sensor stopped working, I sent it all back to Polar and they sorted it FOC and sent it back all within a week.

Its the unit for the sonic uplink of data to the Polar training website. Apparently all those crackles tell some bloke in Finland just how sh!te you are on the bike. For some bizzare reason, these tend to operate even when the data transfer is switched off. Sometimes it sorts itself out without intervention.
