Assos cream ermm substitutes?!
i use assos cream on long rides and am pretty impressed with it, but i was thinkng the other day that it would be good to have a little sachet of the stuff to take along for those extra big rides....
anyway, i then had an idea! The gf curently has a part time job in um a sex shop so i was wondering if the little sachets of lube she can get v. cheap would be an effective subsitute?! Whats in assos that makes it do its job?

Its the antibacterial nature of it that makes it so effective - after all does it really lubricate you (it does nt me! - maybe i don't use enough?!?)
I would nt want assos to be put up any of my holes tbh :P . Plus (going out on a limb here) Is nt your missus' lube going to be water based to "mix naturally with your own body" and so will run off the moment you get a bit sweaty
gah..the youth today are so disgusting....god save us all :shock:We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

The nature of this "lube" from the sex shop probably wouldn't make it practical I don't think.
There was a tele program on the past few nights about Mark Beamont (i think) who cycled round the world. He had a small tube of silicone gel that he used on his "open, weaping wounds" that were his saddle sores... presumably one could use that as a preventative measure also, and certainly easier to carry around than a big tub of Assos.Rides a Cannondale Synapse 105.0 -
ah well guess i'll just have to find other uses for this stuff she brings home0

Oh,by the way, sex shop lubes are likely to be water based because petroleum based lubes (such as Vaseline) are damaging to latex (as in condoms). KY Jelly being the original and best.0 -
Sudocrem works on my cycling bum and my babies nappy rash. Also Aqueous Cream is pretty good and lasts all day.0

Picked up a tub and tried it out today, no ill effects as yet. Anti bacterial but maybe not as gloopy as the proper stuff.FCN 7- Tourer, panniers, Lycra and clipless
What is this game you speak of? Of course I'm not playing...0
