What's the difference between M511 & M531 Deore Rear Mec

Just bought a M511 RD at my LBS, bit of a spur of the moment purchase whilst getting some other bits. When I asked if this was the latest version I was told YES, it was...
Me being the inquisative sort, I did a little research on the web on my return and it clearly isn't the latest version - I believe this is the M531. Yes, should have checked before buying, but as I said, bit spur of the moment and quite liked the idea of supporting the LBS.
Anyway, putting to one side the issue of whether or not someone was intentionally lifting my leg on this, what is the actual difference between the two - is it worth taking it back, getting a refund and getting later version off CRC for £5 less?
Only possible difference I could find is the M531 is described as having a "Wide link design" that "increases rigidity and service life". Not sure if this also applies to M511?
Anyway, thoughts please?
P.S. It's for my Rat Bike to replace current worn out item, so I don't need XTR etc!!!

It is an older design, a few years old. Nothing wrong with it at all.0

OK, I'm aware there's nothing basiaclly wrong with it, but is the later design even slightly better? Wide link design - whatever benefit that brings?0
