removing bottom bracket

hi,
On my friends specialized bighit, that he has just bought pre owned, has a bottom bracket which the person before has stripped all the teeth for the bottom bracket tool to sit in. This is on both sides and one side is plastic and has cracked. It is a tapered bottom bracket (if that helps).
Is there any easy way to remove the bottom bracket?
Cheers.
Rob.

Jump it. Huck it. Case it. Crash it. Get backup. Do it again.

Fairly big screwdriver and a hammer... I think they both unscrew the same absolute direction, and i think the driveside is anti and the non-driveside is clock.0

what bb is it?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

^^ that is much more sensible than attacking a frame with a screwdriver.0

nope, don't have a clue what bb it is, all i know is it a sealed tapered one. Think its a shimano one. To be honest, i think the lbs option is best haha.Jump it. Huck it. Case it. Crash it. Get backup. Do it again.0

Older Shimano BBs were pressed into the driveside cup. I've got numerous BBs gathering dust in my Dads shed without cups. Newer ones though are a one piece cup and BB design.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
