Recommend me some cheap tyres
Could you reccommend some cheap tyres for my old raleigh equipe, as the current ones have cracks in them?
I want some lightish ones and ones that are good for all conditions. I dont want to spend to much either, the cheapest ones there are that are decent as I dont ride road often.
Thanks

What does everyone think of the Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Folding Tyre?- http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productde ... ITTTYRF800
Seem some good reviews. Anyone had any experience with this tyre?
How does it cope in both wet and dry conditions?0 -

funnily enough, I've just bought some like that, but not folding, on e-bay, cos the tyres on my boneshaker are cracked and perished
no idea what they're like, not really bothered
15 quid a pair, incl p and p0 -
They look fine, actually look really fine

I rode a set of the the Grinta Tyres for about 4000 miles without any problems and still have them on my commuting wheels. I never once had a Puncture on them and rode in some pretty crappy weather too so they are quite grippy..0 -

In a review I read it said the tyres were quite hard to get on. Has anyone else found the tyre to be hard to get on?0 -
Don't know about the Zaffiro's but I have had a couple of Rubino's and they went on fine.
As cheap tyres go the Vittoria Rubino's are ok but did cut a little when on the back wheel. I've had Continental Ultra Sports and found these to be prone to punctures; three in a row on the front wheel. At the moment I am using a Bontrager Race Lite Hard Case (£15 Evans) and this is looking to be quite good, no punctures or cuts yet.0 -

I bought the Ultra Sports as a pair and the front had three punctures in a row, the back did not have any punctures. I have checked the tyres after rides and they seem prone to picking up small pieces of flint.0

I’m running Vittoria Rubino Pros (Pro II’s according to the invoice?) on my Fulcrum 3’s. Paid £14.50 each and they seem quite decent. Read they can be a bit iffy in the wet though. I can’t comment on their wet weather performance. New bike hasn’t seen rain to date but I have leant pretty hard on them in the dry.0

+ 1 for the Rubino Pros - competent training tyre at a reasonable price.0

I just picked up a pair of new old stock Pro Race 2s on Ebay for £15 each.0

Hi, I'd steer clear of Zaffiro's as I found they had very poor grip in the wet. Rubinos (non-folding) cost under £7 each at Ribble, and these are okay. They do get cut, like every other tyre, but it takes a while for them to puncture. They grip better than Zaffiros in the wet, but I'm sure there are better out there ofr grip. There's a folding version too (lighter), but you have a great choice in the £10-15 range.

Should I go for folding tyres of rigid tyres?
What are the differences?
Found this review for the zaffiro folding tyre which is good. http://www.roadbikereview.com/cat/wheel ... 89crx.aspx0 -

Folders are a bit lighter, and easier to receive via mail order for obvious reasons!
