Anyone any views on the new Madone 5.2 or the 08 frame? I can't see any changes in the 09 model (except the price)and i can't even find it on the trek website. I think I'll be unable to source an '08 5.2 in my size now so will probably have to go for the '09 model. The review on this site seems very positive and I have 2 Treks already so am happy with the brand.

Thanks

I've got the 2008 5.2. I think it's a great bike (though a tad too good for me!).

Looks like the only difference is a replaceable derailleur hanger. TREK were very proud of not having one of these on the 2008 bike - and promise to repair any failure. However I'd prefer a bike with one (I think?)

Looks to be about 200 quid more. This difference may well increase so I would consider the 2008.

Sorry about the slow response-I somehow seemed to loose access to the site and couldn't reset my password. All fine today! I had a look at the links kindly supplied and the £400 reduction is on the "racing" madone, which, I am told, is not for me! Apparently I need the performance fit, not pro fit. Anyway I've had a good troll round and although I could get some discount on the 08 bikes I've finally plummed for a '09 bike from my LBS. Its not such a good deal as I could get on the 08 bike but its my size and the setup I want (triple) so I'm very happy. Thanks for the inputs, I'll perhaps put a few words on the site when I've ridden the bike for a few hundred miles.

    Thanks again for the responses.

    Hi Billybiker

    I have a 2008 Madone 5.5 and is a truly brilliant bike.

A LBS has pictures (although not official photos of the 2009 madone) I am tempted by the 2009 5.5,but mine is still a bit new :)

Just couldn't decide so I'm riding the 5.2 and have ordered a full on 6.9. Just have to sell my bank shares
