Well, my mate jumped first and bought one of Brants new Summer Slacker 456's. He had it delivered to me at work and as soon as I saw it thought "ooo thats nice! 8) ) So after building his up later that evening, I went and ordered one myself the following morning..... So after a short wait, mine arrived and we now have twin 456's!
Took mine out for its maiden ride up in the Peak district yesterday which included Rushup Edge and Cave Dale which if you know the area are two classic rocky, steppy descents with Cavedale being steep as well.
Bike was perfect! The more relaxed headangle suits the Peak descents wonderfully well and even with a 60mm stem the front remains planted on the climbs. One little touch I did like was the fact there are no braze ons for bottle mounts on the seat tube, so now you can drop the seat all the way and ride a big BMX!
Anyway the pics:
Mine: with X9 throughout bar the front mech which is XT, brakes are Hayes Stroker trails fork TALAS RL, and the wheels are Mavice crossmaxx tubless.
My mates: Tora fork, mix of LX and XT with Deore brakes and some wheels he's had for ages...
I've moaned at him before about the toe clips, all I get is I like 'em.... I find 'em embarasing!

Thanks peeps!! Just orderred a Thomson seatpost for mine, on offer at Merlin so it seemed rude not to really. Also swapped the Salsa seat clamp for a red one of the same...
Maybe some Pikes to go on it, but am actually thinking the Magura Laurin FCR 130mm and save buying a new wheel set....0 -

I am absolutely LOVING these things - wossit ride like with longer forks? For £130 bats it'd be worth getting one just for a laugh.
What's the finish like too, they're just clear lacquer over bare steel aren't they? What's the built-up weight like?0 -
erm, take the stickers off and they could be any old hard tail to the eye. infact, keep the stickers and they still look like any old hardtail.0

Rides well, just as planted as the original 456 but more confidence inspiring on the downs. Not sure of the weight, I dont think I've ever weighed a bike.... Yer, clear coat over bare steel is the finish

I think they're fantastic personally I'd either get a normal 456 or run 100mm forks on it though to be honest, looks a bit too steep for my sort of riding :?0
