OK to mix QS Campag Ergo & non-QS front derailleur?

Subject line is self-explanatory; having failed so far to find some 2nd-hand non-QS 10sp levers, I may have to buy the current QS type brand new. But are they suitable for pre-QS front mechs? Some websites claim I need a QS-compatible one but didn't know if this was just to get me to part with more cash in spite of having already splurged 60-plus quid on Veloce ergos.
Thanks in advance for all advice offered.

I ran a QS lever with a mid ninties 105 front mech and it worked just fine. When I changed to a QS front mech it made absolutely no difference.0

I found when changing down from big chain ring to little chain ring a bit choppy but apart from this they both worked together ok.
I eventually bought the QS front mech. It could be though that I had not set the none QS mech up correctly.0 -
Thanks to all who replied - I'll take the risk, be a cheapskate and stick with the non-QS derailleur I've already got.
