Anyone know what's going to (or likely to) change on the 2009 model?

I won't get my Ride2Work voucher for at least four weeks and Evans have already run out of the current model in my size so it looks like I've got no choice but to get the 2009 version. Just wondering what the differences will be.

    Found this webpage:
    http://www.primera-bournemouth.co.uk/Te ... rodID=3901

Not sure how much I like the new colour. there's no spec list on that page either so can't see what's different.

I wonder if I might get lucky and find an Evans branch that still has my frame size in the 2008 model.
  • You might not be able to get last years model on a ride2work voucher. You might, but don't get your hopes up too much. The company loses money on the ride2work scheme, hence the shop I used to work at wouldn't do discounts, and the 08 tri-cross will be reduced. Good choice of bike though.
To see a spec list, just go on to www.specialized.com and you can see all the info you'd need.

FCN 3 or 4 on road depending on clothing
FCN 8 off road because I'm too old to go racing around.

The Specialized website only has the 2008 models listed at present, so there's no way of telling the full spec for the 2009 ones.

Here y'go - looks very similar to the 08 model spec-wise (so why the extra 50 quid??)

Oh - and there's a colour choice by the look of things.

    Cheers Andy.

Do you (collective "you") think the colour choices will be passed onto Joe Public or are those choices purely for the retailers/wholesalers to choose from when ordering direct from Specialized?

Dunno, but I'll let you know - I'm waiting for Halfrauds bike2work to get back to me confirming they've ordered my bijke and have specified the black colour.

As I had to ring spesh UK and find out the 09 model is available (which it is now, apparently) I'm not holding my breath...

    Cheers.

At least it will solve one of my problems... Evans only have the rack I want (Tubus Logo) in silver and not black which was annoying me because the Tricross was previously a sleek, graphite-looking affair but now, if I have to get an orange and white jobby at least I can switch to a silver rack and mudguards without it standing out.
  • Hi All

I have a 2008 Tricross sport (triple) in a medium (54). I'm mid way through converting it to a flat bar commuter (Ritchie pro flat bars and Shimano deore V brakes/shifters), though I still have the orginal specz drop bars, cables and Tiagra shifters. I bought it new from Specz dealer in Cardiff (Skene's) in October 2007. It's in virtually "as new" condition having only done about 300 road miles.

Its a great bilke, rides like a dream and very rapid, though I've decided to sell it as I want to fund a new bike purchase - an all mountain MTB. I've just been given an old bike to do -up (as a commuter) so the tricross is now surplus.

If you're interested let me know nic.pow(at)tiscali.co.uk

I've got all the original docs, receipt etc and can post the bike too.

Spesh US and UK bikes often differ in colour (color lol!) and spec so I wouldn't pay to much attention to that link.

I was in the Chester Spesh shop today and they had what I think was a 2009 Sport in stock.£749 it was.

And what colour was the one you saw?

I guess the easiest thing is just to call spesh UK - they're always very helpful! In fact I may do just that...

And I have just done that - there's only the one colour - the browny job on Primera's website.

    Ah well...

The Spesh bloke says it looks a lot better in the metal than in a pic. The downtube's black as opposed to the sort of funny grey colour it looks in the pic.

It's the best option for me anyway as a winter commuter/tourer/offroader - particularly attracted by the super-low gearing - considered a Dolan crosser/multi-purpose job but they were talking compact or road tri0ple, and I want something to replace my MTB with.
