Hi all, looking for opinions/advice. Have been looking at getting an Ultegra kitted Trek 1900 new, just got offered an 05 (i think) Litespeed Avoir. Ultegra and Mavic kit. Anyone familiar with the Litespeed and any advice/opinions on which to go for?
Guess it's down to a new lower spec bike or an older better(?) spec bike
thanks, Pat

  • I can recommend the avoir as light and fun to ride but its the only road bike I have ridden bar a carrea from halfords
  • I would always buy a second hand vs a new one, if the price is good.
A bike, like a car, loses most of its value within the first couple of years. You can buy the lightspeed now and maybe resell it in a couple of years for 200 pounds less, with the Trek you will lose a lot more.
Litespeed is a quality product which will exceed your ability/expectations

Well, this is one of those threads where hindsight is valid, the thread is actually 3 years old and I ended up buying the Litespeed. Great bike, but a tiny bit too big for me so was never 100% comfortable. I got it for €1000 back then and sold it for €650 last year, and kept its better wheels so did well for my couple of years to be fair. Would do the same again, if maybe being more careful on getting the sizing right.
