I'm after a pair of Oakley Flak Jackets for use on/off the bike.
I've reasonably bad colour blindness, so am sensitive to low light and struggle to use normal dark shades in wooded conditions and pick out any detail.

I have three options in increasing order of cost

1) Flak Jacket - Bike Array
Comes with three lenses Black/Persimmon/Clear
My main concern with these is that the black doesn't cut out as much light as some of Oakley's other lenses. Anyone got any experience with these - are they enough on bright days

2) Flak Jacket - Transitions
I like the idea of these as they seem well suited to MTBing and the transition would suit my local trails which transition from open to wooded pretty often. Price is pushed above the bike array by the need to buy a clear lense for night riding.

3) Flak Jacket with an iridium lens that cuts out a lot of light + clear + contrast enhancing lense.
Much more expensive to buy 2 separate levels, but obviously completely customisable to my needs,
Anyone got experience of good tints for MTBing particularly the contrast enhancing ones?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The Black Iridium lenses, which will probably be what is in the array do cut out a lot of light, I have some for my half jackets and they are too dark really for anything but the sunniest of days, out on the moors or a coast path where you aren't going into a lot of wooded areas.

I use the Fire Iridium lenses for normal sunny days in and out of the woods, and HI persimmon for about everything else.

If you struggle with lowlight on the woods persimmon would be brilliant, IMO.

Steptoe's have a handy chart of all the lense options here. They are probably the cheapest place to get oakleys in the uk, too.

Go for Polarizes lenses with a lighter tint, more light gets to your eyes but you get increase clarity becuase the polarized lens cut down the glare

I use Amber Polarized with my flak jackets
