Reducing the size of the rubber wheel on a chain guide

Just fitted a 36T E13 Supercharger bashguard to my 2006 Specialized Enduro.

The wheel on the Black Spire Stinger shift guide is touching the E13 and rotates with it.

Although a short test ride didn't show it as a problem, research seems to indicate that a clearance of 3mm should be the norm.

I'm therefore thinking of trying to give it some clearance by reducing the diameter of the Stinger wheel.

Anyone any advice on the best way to achieve this?

Ok there is no way to move it away from the bash, down the arm?

My option would be a spacer between the bash and spider to move it out a touch.

No, it's at the end already.

Not sure how to do that, the bashguard bolts are just long crank ring bolts with a male and a female bit that hold the middle ring and bashguard onto the spider with no room for a spacer?
  • i filed mine down slightly with a metal file, doesn't look pretty and i just converted it into a single ring anyway,

i ended up removing the stinger..

you can get longer crank bolts and you can get crank bolt spacers.

    That rules that out then!

Didn't know that. Had hoped for a lost-cost (free!) effective method but will investigate longer bolts + spacers.

    Thanks for the advice folks.
