i have bought myself a norco bigfoot. i am in love with the bike but bent the bigger front cog at the weekend.
i put on a new chainset that my mate had going - it was the same make truvativ blaze. the biggest cog and bash guard are bigger though.
now the derailleur cant quite reach round the chain and its rubbing a bit against the bigger cog.
i thought i could bring the bigger cog in a bit using washers to stop the deralleur rub.
is this an acceptable solution?
what would you do?

I'd set up the derraileur properly, see parktools

its at its maximum adjustment. the wires as tight as it will go, barrel it out and stops are all the way down.

    its weird.

have you moved the mech up the seat tube?
the biggest cog and bash guard are bigger though.

no not moved the mech at all.
am at a lost. it cant move out any further. might have to swap back to the old chainset and just swap rings
    might be different spacing

no it will work you just need to set it up.

you said bigger rings then move the mech up.

pictures of the problem. and both cranks?

are you sure they both have the same fitting?
