Evening all,
Summer is here at last....perfect time to buy a turbo trainer a!!!!!! Anyway i purchased a Riva sport turbo trainer for £45 (a bargain if you ask me), just a quck question.
Obviously the rear tyre has to touch the metal magnet area in order for it to create the resistance but mine seems to be srtipping the rubber off the centre of the tyre....is this normal? If i move the metal bit further back the tyre does'nt make contact. I would refer to the manual but i accidently threw it out with the box..ooops! Any help as always would be greatly appreciated.
Roll on the sunshine and the 1st week of August...im off and intend to cycle my little legs right off (don't tell the missus though...she does'nt know that yet), no way im trailing round shops.
Salut people. Stay cool and keep it real.

make you the tyre is nicely pumped up, and adjust the contact cyclinder thing so it is pushing against the tyre just enough so that the tyre doesnt slip when you are riding this will reduce wear.
Some trainers are very harsh on tyres. they contact the tyre via a very small textured cyclinder whereas some others use a much larger smooth cyclinder which is much gentler on tyres, if yours is one of those which is harsh on tyres get yourself a special trainer tyre like this - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Conti ... 360017042/
if you find changing tyres all the time is keeping your from training it might be worth getting a cheap 2nd hand wheel and a cassette to use specifically on the trainer0 -
As said above, I have a spare cheap wheel for the turbo, and I save any old worn tyres from the good bike, and re-use them on the turbo.Complicating matters since 19650
