Hey,

I am wondering if anyone can help me with a problem i discovered half way through a bike ride yesterday.
When i compress the forks, they clunk, thinks its just my Crappy suntour forks going.
They are SR suntour xcm forks with lock out etc.

Cheers taff

yep, i think you summed that up correct! They are easy to pull apart and service though, and diagrams on the sr site.

Haha pointless upgrading anyway until i get another bike.
I don't trust myself with the forks so i will take it to my lbs and see what they can do.

Out of interest what is causing my clunking noise?

Could be a part that has disentegrated such as a bumper, the bushings and seals may be shot. Hard to say without me seeing it really.

mine has started doing this now. have just spent around £500 rebuilding bike and forks are next option. what is the likely hood this is going to cause a bad injury or will they hold out til around october??

They wont suddenly just fall apart. Clunks are usually a top out issue, but as above, could be one of many things.

    What fork is it Andy?

I had a noise coming from my forks so i took it back to the LBS who eventually replaced the forks. But a few days later the noise came back, and i was like this can't be the forks. I took my wheel off, as i thought it might be something to do with that and put it on another bike. The noise started on that bike. Turned out the noise was a couple of spokes rubbing together.

So what i'm trying to say there is check your wheels as well.
