Wharncliffe Weekender?

Even though Wharncliffe is my local trail, I have never been to the Wharncliffe Weekender. I realise that it is this weekend, but could anyone fill me in with the details of what exactly happens with regards to entry to the woods?
Is the whole area of Wharncliffe Woods completely sealed-off (don't know how that would be possible, to be honest) for the entire weekend? Is the only way that you can gain entry into the woods by paying an entrance fee?
I completely understand that it's for a great cause, but can you not get into the woods at all unless you pay? I don't mind having to pay £5 to get in, if that's the case...just want to know whether should take the wallet. Last year I was in the woods approx. 6.30am in the morning of that weekend, and there was no one around at that time.
I'll have a ride up there later and check things out.
