Does anyone else have this problem whilst ridding in the mud?

My front derailure gear mechanism gets full of mud and then wont change gear properly. Can anyone help?

Stop. Find a stick, gouge it out and carry on riding!

Can't say i have ever experienced this issue. I always make sure that i wash my bike or at least remove excess dirt after muddy rides.

During the ride i would just remove the dirt if it was that bad it was preventing your front mech from working efficiently.

    had it once.

All it did was remind me why I clean my bike so often (last time it happened was after I was too lazy to clean it)

Fenwicks, water and WD40 got it working again in 5 minutes though

Nope, mud builds up there but doesn't stop it working. Once had a small stone lodge in the mech which stopped it from going back down the gears, no idea how it happened, not sure I could have got it lodged where it was if I'd tried. It was vey weird, took a few minutes to work out what had happened.

Singlespeed up front for the last 2/3 years so can't say I've ever had that problem

If its cold enough to freeze the freehub I'd rather not be hanging about with my wang out......

    Always happens!

I get to a big climb and when I try to change down into the granny ring at the front the mech drops and sits on all the mud i've collected during the ride!

I get fitter though as I then complete the climb in the middle ring!!!

And yes - I wash the bike after every ride!
