Rack mounts

I am looking into the budget range of MTB's which I have to voucher off Halfords on the cycle to work scheme. I want something I can slap a pannier rack onto for commuting during the week mainly because I don't want to fight traffic whilst carrying a backpack. I know I have to take disc brakes into consideration for this but without being able to view the frames in question (bloomin' Halfords limited range) can anyone tell me which ones I can put a rack on? I am looking at the recommendations from MBUK and here plus easily accessible bikes too. So far the list goes;
Giant Yukon
Mongoose Tyax Elite
GT Aggressor XC3
Carrera Vulcan Disc
Not a bad range with £300 price tag considering the options and realising there are more out there yet to look at.

Ta, I found that trick out. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get them in once ordered.
What I am actually after is; finding out which of them is most likely to take a pannier rack for commuting?
I can visit Halfords for the in-house models but the Mongoose and Giant are proving difficult to locate in the flesh to check. Nothing fancy but having been warned about stretching teh racks to fit over the disc brakes, I want to see where the mounting points are. Then I can fabricate something to so that the rack doesn't interfere with the brake calipers. Anyone own a Tyax Elite or Yukon?Don't get too close as a broken tail light often offends...0 -
Looks like the 456 might a bit out of my price range lol.
Some research on pannier racks is in order but first to find out which of the £300 bikes have mounts on their frmaes.Don't get too close as a broken tail light often offends...0 -
Most Kona hardtails (Caldera for eg) do and Halfords normally stock them so go check them out. A couple of threaded holes by the dropout and a couple of "unused" screws on the chainstays give it away. They often get poor reviews on forums because the groupset and the finishing kit doesn't always compare well to other braknds at the same price but they are really good frames IMO, versatile and very well designed."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

The other option must be a seatpost mounted rack? There are some good pieces of kit around these days, and whilst they may not have the full capacity ot a traditional rack they must be worth a look. Widens up the range of bikes, and seeing as its only for commuting I doubt you'd need the weight capacity.0
